I love such discussions. I wanted to use openCart as my default shopping cart system for my clients. But now, after reading all of this (and previous comments) I think I need to spend more time learning magento. Good discussion.

Hi, I’m sorry to respond to this without it being related, but I can’t find a contact form. I’m wondering what happend to the open cart fork? I was on my way to start using open cart, but after reading your post it seems unwise. I know the issue has been fixed, but it’s rather the attitude the developer has towards security in general that scares me away and I can’t run a professional store without proper security updates.

Thanks for the response. Storing all passwords in one file makes sense for a couple of reasons (and including the .dist corollary so that people/you will know what the format looks like…without the passwords:). Thanks for the pointer! Matt

It has such great potential of an opencart system such a pity Daniel is not willing to take advice from other developers and thinks he knows it all.

A clear example where another developer has tried to help and pointed out potential improvements to the OC code base
